Gorgeous Fall Wedding at The Ridge | Asheville, North Carolina

Maura + Taylor exchanged their vows on a gorgeous fall afternoon in Western North Carolina. The views at The Ridge are literally some of the best in the Asheville area and the leaves were just starting to peak, making for a beautiful background for their portraits.

The minute you walk into a room with Maura + Taylor, you know that you have met some of the most warm and welcoming people. They are so kind and have such a loving circle of friends and family that were so excited to celebrate. Taylor literally couldn’t keep his feet on the ground! The day was full of fun, laughter, and lots of love.

Nicole with The Planning helped to design a beautiful day with understated gorgeous fall florals by Petal + Fern. Guests were able to wrap up in soft white blankets during the ceremony and then were invited into the reception with lots of neutrals and subtle pops of pink that accentuated the bridesmaid’s dresses. Maura + Taylor invited Skip Rohde, a live painter, to paint their first dance.

As the sun started to set, the sky was ablaze with purples, pinks, and oranges- it was one of the best sunsets we have seen in a while! After some heartfelt speeches and the sweetest dances, Maura slipped into her reception dress and then the party really started! Everyone was out of their seats all night and it was such a blast!

While I didn’t have a second shooter with me, I was in the best of company with Ian Davidson Films. This husband/wife team are such gems and truly admire not only their work, but their professionalism and genuine personalities. Scroll to the end to see the video!

A Winter Elopement in the Mountains

Charlie and Buck eloped to Asheville from Ohio where their love story began. They enlisted the help of Weddings by Wendy to plan the entire day and I was so honored to capture these special moments for them.

"You are my Sunshine, my only Sunshine!"

A Southern Breakfast Wedding! A Family affair with personal touches, and tons of attention to detail. This "You are my Sunshine" themed wedding was extremely unique, fun and vibrant.  Knowing that the Mother of the bride has been responsible for decorating the Biltmore house for over 25 years, we knew this Biltmore wedding was going to exceed all expectations! 

The morning began with a gorgeous sunrise over the mountains and it was the perfect start to this special day! Emily and Cam's guests arrived at 9am, warmly greeted with coffee and donuts. A bell signaled everyone to sit and the ceremony began. Cam made a point during the ceremony to also make a promise to Ayla, Emily's daughter which was very touching and Emily surprised Cam by having the entire wedding put on sun glasses during the first kiss! Following the vows the entire party enjoyed a fabulous brunch together, followed by a group prayer and family dances.

Summer + Troy | Engagement Photography Session On The Biltmore Estate

The Biltmore Estate was perfect. It was one of those rare moments when you walk onto the front lawn, take a deep breath in and realize that you have the entire place to yourself. It was magical. So myself, Paul from Four Seasons Films, Summer and Troy took a stroll, capturing their love in this magical place.

A Look back at 2014

I realize I'm a couple of weeks behind here but Happy New Year Everyone! The thing is I haven't been spending the last few weeks reflecting, setting goals or making good business plans for the year ahead. The truth is I've been building lego forts, taking my kids to the movies, painting, planning vacations and eating far too much British chocolate. I took a little break from work and I have to say it felt great to slow down a little and not think about my to-do-list for a minute or two. I'm so excited about the year ahead but before I do anything else I wanted to look back at some of my favorite images from 2014. A massive thank you to all of my clients and talented vendors I have worked with. I am filled with gratitude for such a fantastic year filled with adventure, friendships and some amazing weddings.

Bridal Portraits | Old Sherrill's Inn | Fairview, NC

Spending time at The Old Sherrill's Inn is good for the soul. The history and traditions run deep, and I soak up the nostalgia every time I visit. The house was built in the late 1700's and became an Inn for travelers to stay when passing through Hickory Nut Gap. Outstanding views, and secret hide-a-ways surround the house and endless paths lead to more stories and adventures. This shoot was a little different as I teamed up with one of my favorite people in the world and extremely talented wedding photographer Jeremy Russell. Abby (the bride, also a local wedding photographer) and her husband Andrew are the sweetest couple. A Memorial Day Wedding | Rivers Ridge Lodge, Old Fort NC

Lis and Wes both serve in the US Army and their red, white and blue wedding was planned beautifully by Kiersa Holy of Events by Kiersa. The love and support from these two families was indescribable and I was beyond honored to document their wedding.

My day began following a trail of balloons to The Rivers Ridge Lodge and I continued to be inspired at ever turn after that. The property is tucked privately away in a wooded area of Old Fort and encircled by the river. The trees provided just the amount of shade on that gorgeous hot day and guests played lawn games and threw rocks in the water. My absolute favorite moment was witnessing Wes present Lis's daughter Lilli with a ring and make his promises to her also during the ceremony; there wasn't a dry eye to be found. Guests were invited to wear red, white and blue and encouraged to embrace the holiday, while the creative use of color and river rocks made for a fun tablescape. The truffles from French Broad Chocolates was a major hit along with the rest of the awesome food and of course the banging sounds of Bright Light DJ.

Congratulations Lis & Wes and thank you for everything you sacrifice every day to serve our country.

Ashley + James Wedding | Biltmore Estate

Ashley had dreamed of getting married at the Biltmore Estate since she was a little girl, and on September 14th all of her dreams came true! Ashley and James chose to do a first look at the Inn, where we also met up with the rest of the bridal party and explored Biltmore's grounds taking photographs for a while. Their ceremony took place in the Ballroom later that afternoon, followed by a cocktail reception and dinner on the Veranda. The Biltmore's very own floral team did an amazing job with the decor and the staff at Lioncrest provided the cake and catering. Their guests danced to the fantastic Sweetwater Junction from Atlanta who really kept the party going!
